You have finally decided to come to Croatian and sail … If you have hired a skipper and hostess, it will certainly be a much easier week for you , because you can let the whole organization to them, and really enjoy it. Crew on board are professionals, and people of the sea who will tailor the week for you. If you decide to sail on your own, we are more than happy to recommend a route from the beautiful town of Split for you…
Now you have your own command — you’re the skipper, but we would like to remind you on some basic things. You need to keep track of the weather to keep your family and friends safe. Keep an eye out for changing weather conditions and be prepared to act. Don’t neglect it! We live in a modern world, so there are indeed many applications that track the weather, but a charter can also give you this information upon your arrival. Safety always comes first!
So let’s sail…
Route: Split – Milna ( Brač ) – Jelsa ( Hvar ) – Palmižana ( Pakleni otoci ) – Porat( Šćedro ) – Vis ( Vis ) – Stomorska ( Šolta ) – Split
It’s good to know:
- channel VHF16 is designated as the national distress, safety and calling frequency… channel VHF17 is used to communicate when you are in marina, unless otherwise noted
- using the information from the pilot book, select the most suitable sailing route to a certain area or port, depending on the maritime characteristics of the boat
- the ACI Marinas is a chain of 22 marinas on the Croatian coast; all marinas have mooring lines, electricity, water, and sanitary facilities
- ports throughout the coast are generally well equipped and protected from wind. Each place has its own small waterfront (quay) where secure berthing is possible, near bars and restaurants, gas stations, shops, etc. ( except Šćedro )
- remember that Croatia is still a country where cash is more used than cards
