Even during the winter time for local sailors the most popular sailing route is Split – island of Hvar, so we decided to write a few tips in relation to Sailing trip from Split to Hvar.
When leaving ACI marina Split (with private or charter boat) island Brač and island Šolta seems to be very close (aprox 10-12 NM) . Your way to Hvar is between those two islands and called „Split’s door“ (all ferries goes in that direction). During the summer time it is the most busiest boat traffic place.
Island Brač and Šolta are half way to island Hvar. In the winter time you can visit Milna on island Brač and do some shoping or have a lunch or refill diesel.. During the summer time you can do the same as village Milna has 2 marinas: ACI marina & ACI marina Vlaska, so there is enough space for moorings . Please mind that Saturday and Friday is the best to come earlier (before 12:00) because marina’s are overcrowded. Nice swimming and anchoring you can have in bay Livka (island of Šolta) and bay Lučice (island of Brač). Both are on the South side of islands and practically on your way to Hvar.
From there you can sail to Hvar (aprox 12 NM). Hvar harbour is very open for southern winds . During the winter time mooring is possible on the coast . If you are coming in the summer time than we advice to be around 12:00 to have a place. Local authorities will charge you according to the boat size. As everyone would like to be in Hvar during the evening and night we kindly recommend best solution –to be in ACI marina Palmižana in small islands infront of the place of Hvar. In Aci marina you will have safe place, water, electricity and taxi boat to Hvar and back are going very freqventlly.
