The city where the Cetina river, meets the sea
Omiš is a town located in the heart of Dalmatia, more precisely, at the mouth of the river Cetina, and is also known as the true adrenaline center of Dalmatia.
History of Omis
His name was first mentioned in the 10th century under the name Olmissum. It is a city that lives intimately with historical stories and it is hard not to remember its almost mythical, pirate past …
At the peak of their power, Omiš Pirates were one of the most powerful and fearsome pirates on the whole Mediterranean Sea. Omiš Pirates were extraordinary sailors and shipbuilders, famous for their Sagittas (the Arrow), a special type of ship constructed for fast attack and even faster retrieval into the safety of the mouth of the Cetina River. Due to its position and the bravery of its inhabitants, Omiš was practically impregnable to all invaders.
At the beginning of the 20th century, industry and tourism development in Omiš, and the town grew and prospered. You will be amazed by the beauty and contrasts of the landscape in such a small space.

Rafting
The untouched nature of the canyon has been a protected natural landscape since 1963. It offers you adventurous facilities or a quieter trip to the nearby Radmanove mlinice picnic area.
The most popular activity in Omiš, apart from the beach, is rafting on the river Cetina. The route is about 9 km long and is of medium difficulty. If rafting is not enough for you, you can always go down through the canyon of the river Cetina along the ZIP line.

Perhaps Omiš is, after all, our most contrasting city and should be experienced as an artistic painting, as a ballad, as a great entertainment, but also a pirate place that exudes history.
Sailors like to drop anchor in front of the town of Omis, and enjoy on the Cetina or sandy beaches. The driving distance between Split and Omiš is 25.16km ( 12NM )
It is recommended to try the specialties of frogs and eels, because the town of Omiš is called a “town of brunch”.
