Today is St. Nicholas day, the patron saint of sailors, fishermen, travelers, and children. Offshore place Komiža (island Vis) has a long tradition of sacrificing by burning the old fisherman boat, hoping that next year will be successful for other fisherman’s boats and crew.

Sailing club Mornar from Split participates in this event by organizing regatta St. Nicholas for singles and two. The regatta takes place in term 2. to 6. of December on demanding, 160 NM long route: Split – O. Stipanska (Maslinica) – Glavat – Palagruza – Komiza.
This year there were 19 sailing boats on this long route. The last boat ended yesterday. The first boat and winner is “Dubrovnik” Enavigi 39 with skipper Denis Vukas and Ivo Kvestić.
In the category for single racers winner is Emil Tomašević with Seascape 27 “Petite Amie”. He finished regatta after 33h 55 min of sailing.
