The first model of the Saona 47 Catamaran arrived at our Ultra sailing base in Croatia in 2018, immediately after the first productions from the French shipyard Fountaine Pajot. We named this catamaran “Sunny Wave”. We were looking forward finally to get a model between the most common and already seen catamarans from 45ft & 50 ft. Its hull length is 13.94 m which is enough to achieve the luxury of a long cruise. It turned out to be a 47 ft size that was missing in the market due to its prominent personality and elegance in sailing and at anchor. In 2020, at the time of the Corona, another Saona 47, “Desafinado”, arrived. It turned out that both were successfully filled and sought after in the challenging and difficult 2020. In this blog we will try to describe this catamaran and show the original pictures that we managed to catch on Saturdays in guest changes.
Everything on board is designed to comfortably spend an intense moment of crew togetherness. Whether it is a family stay with children or a pleasant gathering of the crew of any age, Saona 47 offers beautiful areas for relaxation, a spacious rear platform, a huge sundeck of 5.5 m2, an excellent 9m2 saloon that is connected by a sliding door with cockpit and cabin. The kitchen is thus the center of the event, superbly equipped with large sliding refrigerators and a drinking fridge in the cockpit. At both Saona 47 we ordered a grill so that guests or hostesses could prepare food on board, regardless of the countless restaurants on the Croatian coast.

Saona 47 is available in Maestro version, with owner’s apartment and its Italian-style bathroom, two double cabins and two bathrooms. There is also a Quintet version, with 4 double cabins, one bunk bed cabin and 5 bathrooms.

Prices of catamarans Saona 47 for rent
We ordered this catamaran in a 5 cabins version (4 double cabins + 1 cabin with bunk beds + 1 small skipper cabin with a bow entrance). Each cabin has its own separate toilet (electric). This variant is ideal for 10 people and one skipper or 8 people with a skipper and a hostess. The vessel is registered for 11 people. Both Saona 47, “Desafinado” & “Sunny Wave” are equipped with the A/C that guests often ask, water maker, ice maker, dishwasher, microwave, Garmin instruments, radar, solar panels, etc.
Due to a lot of equipment and instruments on the catamaran, but also due to better coping when anchoring and finding berths, it would be ideal to rent this catamaran with a professional skipper. Skipper prices in Croatia range from € 170 to € 200 per day, which includes taxes and invoicing. We do not recommend cheaper variants for your safety. We must note that choosing a skipper is sometimes a great choice because he can show you cheaper places to stay. Also, with a skipper, you can be active on board and leave the care to someone else. If you rent a Saona 47 as a “bareboat” charter – without a skipper, the prices vary depending on the season and range from € 5,250 to € 13,545. The heart of the season is in July, August and September when the greatest demand for catamarans is. Discounts ranging from 5-15% for early booking are always available when booking. Last minute discounts can be higher, but these are usually coincidences or happen due to someone’s cancellation, which unfortunately due to Corona was frequent in the 2020 and 2021.
The price of renting a catamaran includes VAT, boat equipment, dinghy and a slightly stronger dinghy engine. Water toys can always be ordered, of which the SUP has most often been asked in recent years.
What is not included in the rental is food and drink, but delivery can always be arranged or for those who want to hire our professional hostess a list or menu can be arranged in advance.
Berths are also not included in the price of the catamaran. Prices for Saona 47 berths range from € 50 to € 250 per night depending on the season (most expensive in July and August), and of course depending on whether you are on a buoy or in the marina. For this reason, it is recommended to hire a local skipper who will shorten your surprise torments.
