In mid-October, as the busy charter season draws to a close, it’s time for the iconic three days of the Vis Regatta, marking the conclusion of the nautical season. This year, over a thousand sailors gathered to celebrate the 80th anniversary of this legendary regatta, which was organized by JK Labud.
Ultra Sailing proudly took part once again, but this year with the added support of the prestigious Beneteau group, celebrating its 140th anniversary. In partnership with Beneteau, Ultra Sailing, the official Beneteau dealer in Croatia, organized a special One Design class featuring the Oceanis 46.1. The fastest Beneteau sailboat in this competitive class was awarded, contributing to the excitement of the regatta.
A total of 151 crews sailed the 28-nautical-mile course, showcasing both the best of Croatian and European sailing enthusiasts. Participants ranged from competitive racers to those who simply enjoy autumn sailing in nature and a good company.
The winner of the first leg of the Vis Regatta was “Polet Furioso” (JK Labud), completing the Split-to-Vis stretch in an impressive 2 hours, 31 minutes, and 21 seconds. Close behind was “Stravaganza” (JK Orsan), which was also the overall winner of the 80th Vis Regatta. However, the first leg proved physically demanding for many crews, as they arrived in Vis exhausted from strong SE winds and rain.
Beneteau Cup results
In the Beneteau Cup Oceanis 46.1 One Design class, we congratulate the seven contestants who, despite challenging weather conditions on the first day and areas with little wind on the second, completed the race. The results remained in suspense until the final announcement, as the standings after each leg shifted dramatically.
Results of the Oceanis 46.1 BENETEAU CUP at the 80th Vis Regatta, Croatia:
- 1st Place: Bumblebee – Skipper Luka Divjakinja
- 2nd Place: Ariel – Skipper Zoran Arnautović
- 3rd Place: Nauti Buoy – Skipper Aleksandar Marić
As part of Beneteau’s 140-year celebration, additional awards were presented:
- Fastest Beneteau under 11m: Ultra First – Skipper Toni Bušić
- Fastest Beneteau of the Vis Regatta: Pisces – Skipper Darko Puzek
