In the Adriatic sea there are three species of sea turtles (loggerhead sea turtle, green turtle and sevenstripes turtle). They are rare and therefore strictly protected.
Turtles lives in the sea, and lay their eggs on the sandy shores of the Mediterranean and the Adriatic. Thousands of sea turtles are caught annually in the fisherman’s nett . Large part die from plastic bag litter. The greatest enemy of these “silent sailor” is tourism because waste pollution, noise and light that disorients them, endangered their habitats and breeding places.

Penalty prescribed for the harvesting of turtles is 40,000 HRK.
