In the inception of the Nautitech 44 Open project, the guiding principle was clear: to create a catamaran crafted “by sailors for sailors.” This initial vision has manifested into a catamaran that seamlessly blends comfort with exceptional sailing performance. The Nautitech 44 Open proudly holds the accolade for the best European yacht in its category, having been chosen among the top 10 new and innovative projects in the nautical market, earning the prestigious “Yacht of the Year” award for 2023.

The creator of the Nautitech 44 is the renowned French designer-sailor Marc Lombard, who is also a proud owner of a Nautitech 40, the Nautitech 44 Open provided him with the canvas to unleash his imagination and knowledge honed through years of successful work in designing sailboats, including top French ocean sailing yachts like Figaro and Akillaria.
Interior Design
Beneath its impressive sailing prowess, the Nautitech 44 Open boasts a luxurious interior with four spacious cabins, two large toilet areas with separate showers, and ample storage space for additional sails, equipment, and personal belongings of the crew. Designed to cater to adventurous globetrotters and long-distance cruisers, this catamaran is favored by travelers intending to embark on global trips or extended voyages.

The “Open Layout” of the kitchen and salon, characteristic of Nautitech, extends the space from the enclosed part of the salon to an expansive and well-protected cockpit. This unique design offers adaptability for Mediterranean and tropical sailing, making it a distinctive feature of this exceptional catamaran. Its signature roof, resembling the wings of a sea manta, not only adds to the vessel’s allure but also provides significant sun and rain protection, contributing to its energy independence with ample space for solar panels.

Unlike the other catamaran brands often found in charter fleets, the Nautitech 44 stands out as a rarity, produced in smaller series. However, Ultra Sailing’s “Double Memory” is a specially crafted version, featuring four exceptionally roomy and solid cabins instead of the standard three version. One cabin is thoughtfully reserved for a permanent skipper and a hostess as required.
The best materials have been selected in order to offer a fully integrated galley, with redesigned finishes and equipment. The kitchen has an easy to clean acrylic resin worktop, integrating the sink and the cooking plates, with all the necessary comfort. An expanded fridge capacity featuring a double drawer fridge.
Exterior design
As a special feature, “Double Memory” boasts a completely open bow section, featuring a specially designed space for sunbathing and leisurely relaxation over the sea surface, complete with a mini bar and sun loungers, catering to those who relish anchoring experiences.

“Double Memory” makes its debut in Ultra Sailing’s fleet as a captivating offering, combining outstanding sailing performance with a touch of luxury. It will be utilized for catamaran skipper schools during spring and autumn, undertake extensive Mediterranean voyages to neighboring Italy and Greece, and serve as a luxury charter option with three cabins and two toilets for guests seeking a seamless blend of opulence and unforgettable sailing experiences.
Nautitech keeps the concept with its double aft helm stations which are protected from the sun by two small biminis. An ideal position to have an unobstructed view of the sails and the sea whatever the speed, but also to keep an eye on the crew members in order to sail in complete safety.

Another lounge area is the forward cockpit designed for lounging thanks to its large sunbathing area, the ideal place to enjoy a sunset or perfect your tan.

All this makes „Double Memory“ a rarity in the offer, even among Ultra’s fleet, which has an excellent fleet of Fountaine Pajot catamarans and Beneteau sailboats, exclusively.
Conclusion
Embarking on its maiden voyage from Rochefort, the famed naval base and shipyard for sailboats on the Atlantic, “Double Memory” shall traverse the waters to Croatia and the enchanting city of Split. This marks the arrival of the first Nautitech 44 on the Adriatic, available for rent with a skipper or as part of Ultra Sailing’s sought-after sailing school adventure, now extended to catamarans.
Joining the experienced crew of Ultra Sailing for “Double Memory’s” inaugural Atlantic and Mediterranean voyage, several participants from the esteemed sailing school are anticipated to be part of this thrilling offshore expedition, creating a memorable summer season from the Bay of Biscay to Split.
With its scheduled arrival in ACI Marina Split, “Double Memory” stands ready to set sail for the first school sailings through the middle of September, further enriching Ultra Sailing’s tradition of offering exceptional sailing experiences to new and ambitious sailors since 1995, now enhanced by the allure of catamarans.
