The distance from Vis (Komiza) to Bisevo is only 5 nautical miles. Most people know this island for its Blue Cave which is entered in a small boat or an inflattable boat. An entrance fee is charged. The Blue Cave is the most beautiful between 10:30 and 12:00 o’clock when the sunlight enters the cave through a hole making the cave irresistibly blue.

In the last few years at this time between 10:30 and 12:00, in the nearby Mezuporat Bay there are so many boats coming from Vis, Hvar and Split to visit the Blue Cave. This crowd starts dispersing around 13:00 when everybody goes back to mostly Komiza or Vis.

Afterwards, Mezuporat Bay returns to its routine; the local people go fishing, children fish from a pier, a local bar in Mezuporat turns the music down… The island becomes different. If the weather forecast is good, it’s a pitty not to stay on the island. Instead of anchoring, people should be able to moor their boats at a local pier after the tourists are gone.

It is possible to walk from Mezuporat to the other side of the island and the beautiful Salbunara Bay. Here, it is possible to get fresh fish and Bisevski plavac wine from the locals. The bay is not well protected from the maestral wind.

Another bay, a bigger one, on the western side of the island is Bisevska Luka (Porat); it is good for a day trip and swimming. The beach is sandy as well as in Salbunara and the bay is shallow. The bay is open to lebic wind.
