Adriatic coast has become one of the leading Mediterranean destinations, thanks to its indented coast, crystal clear sea and beaches that are a true marvel of nature, it is becoming a must-see destination on the map of every world traveler.
There are very few sandy beaches in Croatia, the most beaches are pebbly and rocky, which is why the sea is so clean and has such a beautiful colors. But for those of you who can’t resist the feeling of sand between your toes here are top #5 sandy beaches in central Dalmatia.
#1 Sandy beach Lovrečina
near Postira, on the northern coast of the island of Brač
- finding good anchorage will be easy, the bottom is sandy, but look out for the shallow bottom that extends more than 100 m from the shore
- it is one of the most beautiful beaches and also the only sandy beach on the island… in addition to the beautiful appearance, you can also find valuable archeological remains of an early Christian basilica from the 6th century
#2 Vela Rina Drvenik Mali,
only 8 nautical miles from Trogir
- in the sandy cove of Vela Rina the anchorage is at a depth of 6 meters… the soil is rocky in some places, so be very careful when you anchoring there
- wide, warm and sandy beach
- the island is not known to tourists so there are never many people on the island , so you will be able to enjoy completely without any stress
#3 Zaglav beach,
is a natural sandy beach in the southeastern part of the island of Vis, near the village Milna
- it is not accessible by car, but you can have a pleasant walk from the village Milna (a walk that lasts about 10 min) or you can anchor there
- anchor at least 20 m of the shore
- a natural sandy beach and an ideal place for those who want to escape from the summer crowds and enjoy the peace, tranquility and clear sea
#4 Stončica beach and bay,
located on the east side of the island of Vis, three nautical miles east of the port of Vis
- included in the ecological network because of its beautiful sandy bottom and beautiful reefs
- is also known for one of the largest offshore lighthouses in the Adriatic
- the bottom is sandy, so the anchor needs to be well buried, and staying on the anchor can also be interrupted by the whirlpools of certain winds, which when reinforced in all directions bounce off the high coast

# 5 City beach Punta, town Omiš
- the town of Omiš is situated at the mouth of the river Cetina, on one of the most beautiful canyons in Europe, bounded by steep rocks and therefore looks like it is carved in the mountain
- it is important to note that the Great (city) beach is a natural beach… it is located at the mouth of the Cetina and was formed by the deposition of fine and clean river sand
- anchor to sandy bottom, 4 to 5 meters deep, anchor holding well; open to all winds
Note; it is not possible to anchor on this beaches, but enjoying and creating memories is possible
#Šipkova bay, located on the western part of the island of Šolta, near the village of Maslinica
- Šipkovo bay is adorned with a beautiful sandy beach, but an underwater cable is drawn through the bay to Drvenik, which makes it unsuitable for anchoring, it is recommended to walk to the beach
#Bačvice beach, city of Split
- the beach is located not far from the city port to the east and is famous for its sandy shallows that reach tens of meters from the beach
- due to the specific configuration of the terrain, and carefully – naturally – selected fine sand, Bacvice beach is ideal for playing picigin ( picigin is traditional ball game from Split, Croatia that is played on the beach. It is an amateur sport played in shallow water consisting of players keeping a small ball from touching the water )
