65th Regatta of Jelsa, which is traditionally organized by the Sailing Club Split, was held this year from 15.06. to 17.06. On Friday morning, 32 sailing boats were on the start in the Bay of Kaštela. Archambault 40 “Duh Ultre”, Ultra sailing school boat, with 3 sailing school instructors and 5 school attendants was among them. Followed by a good wind “Duh Ultre” has passed the finish line as the 3rd boat. The end of the first leg was in Jelsa, a beautiful small place on the northern side of the island of Hvar. The rest of the afternoon the crew had a chance to walk by this picturesque town and hang out with other crews and locals for dinner and a party.
Saturday was a day off so our crew took advantage of the good weather and sail out. The channel between town of Jelsa and town of Bol, a place on the south side of the island of Brac, is windy and ideal for an additional exercise.
On Sunday morning the second, 30NM long leg from Jelsa to Split started. As there was no wind, the start was moved to the Split Gate. Our crew headed by Igor Piacun and Marko Mađarević carefully followed the wind and passed the finish line as a first boat in their group and the second boat in the overall ranking.
Congratulations to the crew – you’ve been great!
