That Lastovo was indeed an island of cristal stars, Slovenian astro photographers Mikuz Herman and Andrej Mohar confirmed in 2008. They concluded Lastovo was the place with the most beautiful star sky in all of Europe, with its location being away from the mainland and all possible pollutants. So of you are lucky enough to find yourself on anchor in bays of Lastovo, lie in the cockpit and enjoy cristals in the sky. Children will find this especially nice.
Lastovo is the main village on the island and it is located inland, which is the result of pirate threats throughout history. This place is famous for its various chimneys and carnivals which have been going on for year now. The closest bay to anchor your boat is Zaklopatica, which is about 20 min on foot from Lastovo.
Ferry arrives to Sobra which is on the west part of the island. Boaters often choose the quiet bay of Mali Lago and Veliki Lago near Sobra. Between Mali and Veliki Lago there is a bridge (Pasadur ) that connects island Lastovo with the small island of Prežba. These bays are safe and sheltered for anchoring. You can find places to to berth on a dock only in front of „Solitudo“ hotel.
